The ECLIM 2000 conference will take place in the Hotel Pyramida which is less than ten minutes’ walk from Prague Castle. In June it can be very pleasant to walk to the nearby parks in the Strahov and Petrin hills, where visitors may relax or visit the gothic monastery and other monuments and a 60-m high view tour, or from which they may descend downtown Prague by a funicular.

Hotel Pyramida is situated near the way from the Ruzyne airport to downtown Prague, and is easily accessible by the municipal public transport.

How to Get to Prague

Air Travel

There are numerous direct international flights available from a multitude of cities over the whole world. For timetables and other information see for instance the CSA (Czech Airlines) website or contact other carriers.

Trains and Buses

It is easy to get to Prague by train from almost the whole Europe but sometimes it is necessary to change more than once. Therefore in most cases it is easier and quicker to use the bus transportation or the combination of both of them. There are direct coach services from many European cities operated by several companies.
For the train and bus timetable you may consult e.g. IDOS search engine
(NOTE: to use this search engine, Prague must be input in its Czech name as Praha).

Accommodation

If you do not wish to book a hotel via the ECLIM organisation service, you can make hotel reservation for example with the help of the CSA website or through the Prague Information Service.
As the ECLIM is held in starting tourist season, it is recommended not leaving the reservation to the very last moment.

Visa

Most of ECLIM 2000 participants will not need a visa to enter the Czech Republic; this is for instance true for participants from majority of European countries, and for the USA, Canada and Japan.
If you need a visa to enter the Czech Republic, the Local Organizing Committee will be pleased to send you an official letter confirming your participation at the ECLIM 2000.

Currency

The name of the local currency is Czech Crown (Kc for short).
The easiest way of changing money is using cashpoints (majority of them handling VISA, Eurocard/MasterCard and JCB as a standard, some of them handling American Express and Diners Club). There is indeed a number of exchange offices across the city, open until late hours.

Recent exchange rates (mid-February):

1 USD = 36.25 Kc
1 GBP = 58.06 Kc
1 EUR = 35.66 Kc
1 DEM = 18.23 Kc

Weather

The mid-June belongs to the most pleasant periods in Prague, usually with mild-weather and a temperature typically around 20 degrees C (68 degrees F).
