• 1986 - 2 months at Moscow Lebedyew Physical Institute (plasma diagnostics at laser system Dolphin)
• 1992 - 2 months at Oxford University (high resolution x-ray spectroscopy of LPP at RAL Didcot)
• 1993 - 3 months at FSU Jena and MPQ Garching (development of advanced spectroscopic instruments, within the EC COST Mobility Scheme Go West)
• 1994 - 2000 experiments at large laser facilities, repeated visits to IOQ Jena, RAL Didcot, LULI Palaiseau, MPQ Garching, LANL Los Alamos, LLNL Livermore, and MBI Berlin
• 1996 - 10 months at FSU Jena (high-resolution spectroscopic experiments, visiting scientist with the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft Arbeitsgruppe Röntgenoptik at FSU Jena)

High-resolution x-ray spectroscopy of hot dense plasmas

The profile of the Group of X-ray Optics is characterized by its direction towards a study of x-ray emission from different types of plasma sources, mainly towards the application of advanced spectroscopic schemes and methods in high-resolution plasma diagnosis. The other important activity is directed towards a development, characterization and application of novel x-ray instruments (including ultra-high-resolution x-ray spectrometers based on the vertical dispersion principle).
